Location

Daphnis Villas can be found in the area of Pyrgos Psilonerou of Crete, fifteen kilometers west of the city of Chania.

The ideal location of Pyrgos Psilonerou, which is strategically located two kilometers west of the center of Platanias and towards Gerani, gives the visitor the ability to bask in the well-organized touristic facilities as well as the lively night-life of Platanias. It is one of the most popular resort destinations in Crete, and it also has the ability to offer peace and serenity that only Western Crete and a peaceful villa such as that of Daphnis Villas can offer.

Platanias, and the neighboring areas of Gerani and Agia Marina, offer enjoyable surprises for the guest. Endless kilometers of beauty, easily accessible beaches, exceptional facilities for public transportation, shopping and fun, a very friendly atmosphere for families with children, and a rare combination for relaxation, both on the beach front and in the villages, will entrance you.

The city of Chania does not need any special introductions. It has been repeatedly voted as the Number 1 destination in Greece, and offers a great many attractions for guests from all ends of the Earth. The Old Venetion Harbor, one of the most beautiful harbors in the Mediterranean, is a difficult place to leave someone unmoved. Directly behind the harbor, you can find the Old Town of Chania, with the well-preserved Venetian homes, the picturesque alleys, and the shops which sell practically everything. At a very close distance, you will find the Main Market Place of Chania, the Agora, a building of historical importance that was founded by one of the greatest nationalists of Modern Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos. Here, you can lose yourself in the traditional Cretan tastes; the olive oil, the honey, the traditional cheeses, the fresh local meat and fish and the spices. If you can succeed in slipping away from the beauty of the old town of Chania, you can also visit the quaint neighborhood of Halepa, the most aristocratic neighborhood in the city, with its eye-catching mansions, and which also includes the popular national landmark and home of Eleftherios Venizelos. In the outskirts of Chania, east of Halepa and towards the direction of the Akrotiri peninsula, you can find the Graves of Eleftherios Venizelos, a place of great historical importance for the Greek people. Next to the Graves of Venizelos, is the grave of his son Sophocles, who was also a very well-known politician. From the gorgeous greenery surrounding this area, you can enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the city of Chania and the coast of Western Crete.

With a starting point of Daphnis Villas, you can also easily excavate some of the purest, most untouched corners of Crete. Heading west, and using the National Highway, you can quickly reach Kissamos, one of the most beautiful traditional settlements of Crete. At a small distance west of Kissamos is Falassarna, with her endless sand and crystal waters. If, on the other hand, you are looking for something more exotic, head southwest towards Elafonisi, where you will find a protected area of unique natural beauty, a multi-colored lagoon-like bay with its peculiar yet beautiful pink and white colored sand and clear waters. Both Falassarna, as well as Elafonisi, are included as some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Greece.

Heading south from Daphnis Villas, you can visit two popular settlements of Southern Crete, Paleochora and Sougia. Paleochora is a very graphic settlement, which in recent years has received a great deal of attention. Sougia is the ideal location for seclusion and isolation. Her relaxed pace and her ability to allow you to forget about time, as you are in between the mountains and the sea, is ideal in helping you to escape from anything that connects you with daily life. Both areas offer many exceptional beaches at a close distance, therefore, the only sure thing is that you will not be missing the sea.

South and southeast from Daphnis Villas is Sfakia, the most unique area outside of Chania. In Sfakia you will need enough time to tour around, as there are many sights to see. The most popular is the Samaria Gorge, the largest gorge in all of Europe. In this area, you will also find traditional villages on top of untouched beaches, such as Loutro and the town of Sfakia. And we cannot forget the popular beach of Frangokastello, in the exceptionally well-kept Venetian castle, where the legendary warrior-ghosts, the Drosoulites, are said to appear in late spring.

If, in the end, you would like to move east from Daphnis Villas, away from the city of Chania, you can find the breathless beaches of Marathi, Kalathas and Stavros in the center of the Akrotiri area, and the touristic paradises of the Apokorona area with Vrysses, Kalives, Almirida, and Plaka. And if you head even more east, and reach the far-edges of the Prefecture of Chania, towards Rethymno, you can find the very well-known beach resort of Georgioupolis, as well as the picturesque Lake of Kournas, the only lake in all of Crete.
